My Offensive Scheme I Believe in

The Spread Triple Read Option Offensive Scheme is a spread read option system that utilizes the quarterback, running backs, and slot backs as primary rushers from shotgun or pistol formations. It incorporates RPO quick pass concepts, a pitch phase, and 2x2 route combinations, with motion employed approximately 40% of the time. This offense blended with gun/pistol triple option and quick passing concepts.

The Spread Triple Read Option Offensive Scheme is a mixture of the Read Option and Gun Triple Option offenses involve quarterbacks making decisions at the line of scrimmage, reading the defense to determine whether to hand off the ball to a running back, keep it and run, or throw the ball. However, the Gun Triple Option involves more players and more complex decision-making at the point of attack, while the Read Option is a more streamlined approach with fewer options for the quarterback. In essence, the shotgun read option is a simplified version of the triple option, focusing on a single "read" and two potential ball carriers, while the gun triple option utilizes a more complex system of reads and three potential ball carriers.

A primary goal of this offense is to create numerical advantages in the run game by leveraging the threat of the quarterback run. This often results in a two-man advantage through the addition of an RPO quick pass concept or an option pitch phase on the perimeter.

The Spread Triple Read Option Offensive Scheme combines read option run plays, power run concepts, and RPO concepts.

Base formations for this offense are derived from 10 (4 WR, 1 RB, 0 TE), 20 (3 WR, 2 RB, 0 TE), 30 (2 WR, 3 RB, 0 TE), 11 (3 WR, 1 RB, 1 TE), and 21 (2 WR, 2 RB, 1 TE) personnel groupings. The offense heavily features traditional spread formations such as 2x2 WR sets, trips, and a two-back pistol backfield. The offensive philosophy is to establish a power run game while also utilizing RPOs in the short passing game, forcing the defense to defend the entire field.  Executed effectively, this offense is both explosive and efficient, aiming to dominate the defense and impose its will on each play.

To enhance the offense's tempo and efficiency, coaches should consider using wristbands for skill players. Wristbands enable players to execute at a faster pace by providing immediate play calls, minimizing hesitation.
