Pass Protection Blocking Scheme

Half-slide pass protection is a zone-based pass protection scheme where the offensive line works together by sliding to one side to secure a specific gap. As the name suggests, only half of the protection is sliding, while the other half remains in man or gap-based responsibility.

This concept creates a balanced approach to pass protection, allowing the offensive line to handle pressure efficiently while maintaining structure against multiple defensive looks.

Below is a basic outline of the half-slide pass protection scheme I use. It’s simple to teach, easy for players to recognize, and highly effective in keeping the quarterback protected.

Half-Slide Protection Calls:

5-Man Protection: Louie / Roger

6-Man Protection: FeLix / FRed

7-Man Protection: LeO / RicO

In addition to half-slide, I also incorporate other pass protection schemes depending on the situation and defensive alignment.
